My favorites are the wacky vampire short, with Olga Kurylenko and Elijah Wood, and Juliette Binochet as the grieving mother who receives surcease of suffering from a cowboy on a horse tromping les rues de Paris. The first and last vignettes were both very good as well.The weakest for me, were the Steve Buscemi one and one where a man is senselessly murdered a some worthless street urchin. Nice work overall, for a mixed bag. 3.2 stars Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review dave s A love letter to the city of Paris, Paris, Je T'Aime consists of eighteen short films, each by a different director and starring different actors, that cover a variety of iterations of love and longing. The varying styles of the directors (which includes the likes of Olivier Assayas, Gus Van Sant, the Coens, Alfonso Cuaron and Tom Tykwer, among others) gives each segment a fresh and unique feel. The cast (including Juliette Binoche, Natalie Portman, Gena Rowlands, Gerard Depardieu, etc.) does a remarkable job considering the time constraints of the short films and the stories, the quality of which varies from segment to segment, are generally top notch. Of note, the continuous take is Cuaron's Parc Monceau is remarkable and Alexander Payne's 14E Arrondissement is unexpectedly heartbreaking. If you can stream it for free, the following episodes are worth watching: "Tuileries," the Coen Brothers' hilarious satire of tourist paranoia; the charming "Tour Eiffel," about a mime who finds love; "Quartier Latin," a thoughtful look at amicable divorce; and the clever "Parc Monceau" and "Faubourg Saint-Denis," about which little can be said without spoiling them.
